Weekend Recap: A Fair to Remember

This was one of those quintessential summer weekends, filled with sun, fun, and a local fair!  Sometimes you just have to slow down a bit and enjoy the simple things, so despite being crazy with work, I made sure to make the most of the few days off!

After a very lazy Saturday morning, B and I joined my family at a local fair for dinner.  B loves fairs, and is amazingly good at the dart games, something I had no idea about until this weekend.  He was so good, in fact, that he won me the toucan in the upper left hand corner!  Navigating the food at the fair was easier than I thought it would be, I just had to stay away completely from any of the dessert items.  Instead, I opted for a couple bites of the meat-on-a-stick (not beef, of course) and had the fair’s raw bar selection, which was from a local fish market.

After playing and lazing on Saturday, Sunday was my time to clean the house and get food ready for the week.  I shelled peas for the first time after getting a large bunch from my CSA!

And, in an effort to get ahead, I made mini zucchini pizzas for B and I for lunch.  Recipe will be up later this week!

Once all my chores were done, I snuck out for a quick shopping trip with my mom and sister.  I got these tops for $11.00 total – a great deal!

I love a good summer sweater, and who can resist a fresh white button-down?

And, my food of the weekend was definitely clams on a half shell!  I indulged in some at the fair, and loved them so much I got more for B and I for Sunday dinner.  Here he is dressing them up for us to slurp down.  It might not be the prettiest food, but it sure was tasty!

How was your weekend?
