Five days after returning home from what would be a life-changing trip with my husband in Paris, the Charlie Hebdo terrorist attack took place in the City of Lights. My photographs from my adventures throughout Paris are in no way meant to minimize the chilling devastation that the city has faced over this last week; if anything, the beauty and culture depicted in the shots simply reinforce the perseverance intrinsically found in Paris. I plan to write more over the next few weeks about how I navigated eating while in Paris and how to stay active over a vacation, but for now, I just want to share some of my favorite photos from my trip. Although I am back safe in the United States, a piece of my heart will forever remain in the City of Lights.
The view from our hotel room.
The Louve’s famous glass pyramid.
Musée d’Orsay – my favorite of the museums we visited.
Paris at sunset.
Nightfall on the Seine.
A Parisian café decorated for the holidays.
An overview shot of Paris taken from the top of the Montparnasse Tower.
Let’s talk about food. These macarons were heavenly (& naturally gluten free)!
Croissants – definitely NOT gluten free.
Our New Year’s Eve spread in our hotel room.
A day trip to the Champagne region of France to taste the local specialty!
Everywhere you look in Paris is gorgeous. One of the reasons we fell so hard for the city was the amazing architecture/sculptures.
The 1 am Eiffel Tower light show from our hotel room on January 1, 2015.
Wishing you all a safe and happy 2015, and of course, for peace everywhere.
